Summer is watermelon season

I adore watermelon -- it is one of my favorite fruits. I'm generally not a big fan of summer (too hot, and sweating is gross), but one thing I do look forward to is watermelon.

This week, one of the loss leaders at my local Stop 'n Shop was a whole watermelon for $3.99.

I picked through the bin, tapping and weighing each one, until I found a behemoth that clocked in at 20.62 lbs.

Afterwards, I ran the math -- $3.99 / 20.62 lb = $0.19 per lb

Hee! I am very pleased with myself.

    One of our family's favourite summer treats is watermelon slush. Chunks of bright red fruit in the power machine/blender, 1/2 C simple syrup + water or frozen lemon aid, + fresh lemon juice or' Real Lemon' & a few ice cubes.

    Oh, I love watermelon too! In fact, I always buy watermelon almost every day! My daughter loves it too. Summer is almost over here in our country, but glad there are still lots of watermelon to buy.
